Who We Are
Modern Drilling Company, formerly known as SinoTharwa Drilling Company, was established in 2005 as a joint venture between Tharwa Petroleum Company (a subsidiary of the Egyptian General Petroleum Company “EGPC”) and Sinopec Star Petroleum Company of China. Since its inception, we have been dedicated to providing top-tier drilling services to the oil and gas industry, with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.

Our History
Modern Drilling Company’s journey began in 2005 under the name SinoTharwa Drilling Company. The company was formed through a partnership between Tharwa Petroleum and Sinopec Star Petroleum. Today, as a fully Egyptian-owned entity, we continue to build on our legacy of excellence, providing high-quality drilling services to the oil and gas industry while supporting the national economy.
